In 1977 we said yes in a small church in Enugu with forty guests and one very loud generator. Fifty years, three children, seven grandchildren and countless plates of jollof later, we would love you to come and say thank you with us.

Our fifty years

The wedding
Forty guests, one generator and a cake that arrived an hour late. We have laughed about it every year since.

The move to Lagos
A new job, a smaller flat and the first of our three children. We learned to share one wardrobe and one very small kitchen.

The house in Surulere
After eleven years of renting we finally had a front door of our own. The first Christmas, forty people came and we owned eleven chairs.

Emeka held her for an hour and refused to be photographed holding anything else. There are no other photos from that year.
